Rainbow Pet Portraits | Turn your favourite animals into colourful works of art
About
We’ll concentrate on colour and value, exploring how to use bright and surprising colours while still making your cat or dog look convincing and, most importantly, full of life. You’ll learn how colours work together to describe form, create mood and bring emotion to your paintings — without simply painting your pet the colour they happen to be!
There’ll be plenty of opportunity to experiment, play with colour and develop your own style. The techniques you discover can be applied to any animal, so you’ll leave with ideas that will take your animal painting in all sorts of exciting directions.
Friday 25 September 2026 | £107
Some watercolour experience will be helpful, but the most important requirement is a willingness to experiment!
All materials, tea and coffee are provided. The workshop takes place at beautiful Micklems Farm in Knowl Hill, Berkshire, a relaxed and inspiring setting for a day of painting.
You might also enjoy Characterful Animals in Watercolour on 24 September, or later in the year Hares in Watercolour on 19 November and Line & Wash Animal Portraits on 20 November.
Please note that full joining instructions will be emailed to you 3-4 weeks ahead of the workshop. If you have any questions the FAQs should help, but don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected]
Bring your favourite animal reference and come ready to discover just how colourful a pet portrait can be!
