New Book!

After months of waiting, it is published! Painting Watercolours on Canvas is live. Now available online, direct from the publisher, or in all good book shops….Painting Watercolours on Canvas …..or even to download onto your Kindle.

It all started back in March 2018, when the I approached the lovely folk at Crowood Press with an idea. The idea became a chapter synopsis, which in turn became 30,000 words of text and 150 photos. The copy got edited, then page set in early winter, followed by a professional proof (you can never spot your own typos). Next indexing and a cover design, before going off for printing in India. A slow journey back on a container ship and voila! Published in the UK. The US has to wait just a little longer.

You can buy direct from Crowood too: http://www.crowood.com/details.asp?isbn=9781785005893&t=Painting-Watercolours-on-Canvas

It’s practical, it’s enthusiastic, it’s designed to get you going! I would love to know what you think. If you like it please try to leave a review on one of the big sites. If you don’t like it, please let me know (be gentle, but honest!).

  1. I am totally in awe I just love your work and this book. I want to carry it everywhere. I realised I was being to tight and striving for perfection but finally got it through me thick head that water colour looks so much better in a loose style. Shame I live in Australia because I would so much love to come to a class.
FYI I am legally blind! I still paint I have some sight in my right eye blurry (suitable for watercolour lol) but I work using a very large goose neck lamp with a big magnification centre). I move my paper in to view rather than moving around areas.
Do you have any brushes you prefer? I would be very interested.
    Thank you and kind regards

    1. Hi, I am so pleased you like the book. I am in awe of your determination to paint. I suggest getting a large round (something like a 16), a medium round (8) and a rigger (2). I think a good synthetic is best for working on canvas. Sables are beautiful to use, but they are too soft for canvas or ink. Would love to see what you are doing.

  2. Liz I love your book. I have difficulty following online and have to often turn the speed to 25 per cent because I am almost completely blind. I love your work and I was wondering do you have any videos so I could also play them on the tv as well so they are nice and big and easy to see. Thank you Lorraine x

  3. Hi Lottie, sorry but the only films I’ve done are homemade affairs on YouTube, rather than professionally produced affairs. I know there are ways of playing YouTube films through your tv, but I don’t know what the quality would be like. Sorry not to be able to help more. Lizx
