Sunflowers
A vibrant celebration of two sunflowers, capturing their bold shapes, distinctive petals and joyful character through an expressive ink resist technique.
The strong graphic quality of the technique gives the flowers an almost woodblock-like appearance, with areas of rich colour contrasted by the expressive marks and textures created by the resist process. I love the way this approach simplifies the flowers into their essential shapes while still retaining their energy and personality.
The artwork was painted on paper using ink resist before being mounted onto board, waxed and framed. The waxed surface adds a subtle tactile quality and depth to the finished piece, enhancing the handmade, print-like character of the painting.
Measuring 30 x 30 cm framed, it is supplied framed and ready to hang, making it an easy way to bring a splash of sunshine and colour to a wall.
