There is something utterly captivating about a hare. Perhaps it’s those huge, watchful eyes, wonderfully long ears and elegant, almost other-worldly shape — or the fact that hares have inspired folklore and mythology for centuries. They make irresistible subjects for an animal-loving artist.

In this one-day workshop, we’ll explore how to capture that wild character and sense of life in watercolour. You’ll discover ways to paint eyes full of vitality, suggest soft fur without painting every hair, handle delicate whiskers and introduce unexpected touches of colour to make your hare really sing.

These techniques are useful far beyond hares, so you’ll come away with ideas you can use in all sorts of animal paintings.

The workshop is held at beautiful Micklems Farm in Knowl Hill, Berkshire, a relaxed and welcoming setting for a day of painting. All materials, tea and coffee are provided.
